I will always remember Uncle Ralph for his keen sense of humor, wit and his love for his family. Some of my fondest memories of Uncle Ralph was visiting with him during the Kilby Reunions over the years. Our visits always revolved around a visit to "The Home Place" to see his garden of course, and to share in his famous ham biscuits and pies.
We were especially honored when Ralph & Sylvia, Grady and Eleanor drove to Maryland to attend Stephen and Ashley's wedding just a few short years ago. He came because he knew how much it meant to all of us for them to be there to celebrate with all of us, and to honor his brother Don's daughter Donna and first born grandchild Stephen. He was so happy for all of us! It meant everything to us that they could all attend. Ralph always put family first!
Every few months we would get a call from Uncle Ralph ( after 9 pm because his cell phone rate was cheaper), to see how we all were doing. He was so interested in all the little details about our lives and as always, had a few good stories to share with us as well. Both Donna and Ralph would both get chocked up when he would call because Donna was always reminded of her dad when they would speak. Ralph knew that and had his own special way when he spoke with Donna.
I can only imagine the feeling of loss for all surviving members of the " Kilby Clan". What I do know is how fortunate I was to marry into the Kilby Family and have had the honor and privilege to know and love our beloved Uncle Ralph!
On behalf of the entire Decker Family, please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. I am sure that Uncle Ralph will be looking down on us from the biggest garden in heaven! We have nothing the most wonderful memories of his entire life, that will sustain us for many years to come. Rest in Peace Uncle Ralph.
